Turn a task dump into the vital 20%
8020.best is a free, local-first task prioritizer for people staring at an unstructured list. Paste or upload tasks, sort them into 6 visible priority tiers, and move from an overwhelming backlog to a short list of work that deserves attention first.
- Paste text or upload Markdown, text, and ZIP files
- Keep the working library in browser storage
- Export a portable Markdown list or tiered ZIP
Prioritize your task list
The web app accepts one task per line and keeps the resulting folders in this browser. Sorting is requested only after you press the button, so drafting, editing, importing, viewing, copying, and exporting remain under your control.
How 8020.best works
1. Add an honest task dump
Task input can come from pasted lines, a plain-text file, a Markdown checklist, or a ZIP of lists. Existing 8020 exports restore directly, while a new unstructured list can be sent for AI grouping when you explicitly choose Sort tasks.
2. Review 6 priority tiers
Priority output uses S, A, B, C, D, and F rows so urgency and importance stay visible instead of disappearing into a single queue. Folders can be dragged between tiers, opened for detail, and refined with completion state and subtasks.
3. Take the list with you
Portable exports turn the current library into readable Markdown or a tiered ZIP. The export preserves folder names, completion state, and nested subtasks, which makes the result useful outside 8020.best and safe to import again later.
What happens to your tasks
Browser storage keeps the working task library in IndexedDB on the device where you use 8020.best. No account is required, and the current web app includes no advertising or analytics scripts. Clearing browser data can remove that local library, so export a backup before changing browsers or devices.
AI sorting happens only after a deliberate Sort tasks request. The task text and existing bucket names are sent through the 8020.best server to Anthropic Claude for that response. The full disclosure, including the separate Chrome extension and optional local companion, is available in the privacy policy.
